APA Insurance Company has blacklisted 28 car modelsfrom getting comprehensive cover due to what they termed as misuse of the vehicles and breach of policy terms.
The blacklisted cars include some models of Toyota, Honda, Maruti, Mazda, Nissan and Suzuki cars.
Those banned include Toyota Wish, Vitz, Probox, Fielder, Honda (Stream, Fit, Airwave), Suzuki (Swift), Mazda (Demio, Axela) and Nissan (Tiida, Vanette, Wingroad)).
According to Ashok Shah, the chief executive of APA’s parent firm Apollo Investments Limited, the models have been used in carrying passengers while they are registered as private vehicles.

“Like many other underwriters, we do not insure vehicles which can be used to carry passengers. These have to be insured as taxis/buses. The models are blacklisted due to the wrong usage of the subject vehicles,” Mr Shah said.
This comes days after GA insurance Limited struck off a number of vehicle models from their comprehensive insurance cover, citing unsustainability in settling claims.
