President William Ruto has rejected allegations that his political success is a result of cunning strategies, asserting that his rise is due to prayers and divine intervention.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, Ruto dismissed claims that he employs trickery to navigate political challenges. He maintained that his victories stem from his faith in God despite facing multiple obstacles.

“Kuna watu walikuwa wametuwekea mitego mingi, kwanza mimi… asipoangukia hapa ataangukia pale. Leo wanasema huyo Ruto ni mjanja,” he said. (There were people who set many traps for us, especially for me… if I didn’t fall into this one, I would fall into that one. Today, they say Ruto is cunning.)

Ruto insisted that his success is not a result of craftiness but rather divine grace. “Mimi nawaambia mimi sio mjanja, ni neema ya Mungu na ni kwa sababu tunamuamini yeye,” he added. (I am telling you, I am not cunning; it is God’s grace, and it is because we believe in Him.)

Ruto Criticizes Opposition Over 2027 Election Strategies

A day earlier, while touring Taita Taveta, Ruto took a swipe at opposition leaders strategizing for the 2027 elections. He questioned their focus, criticizing their newly formed party for lacking direction.

“I see some people holding meetings, saying they are forming a party. But for four hours, all they talk about is William Ruto,” he remarked.

He challenged them to present clear policies instead of centering their discussions on him. “Now I ask them, is that party they are forming mine? Is it called William Ruto?” he posed.

Ruto accused his rivals of political opportunism, arguing that their focus on him rather than governance issues was a distraction. “Let me tell Kenyans today, I have not sent these people to talk about me. That party they are discussing is not mine; these are con men,” he declared.
