ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary nominee William Kabogo confirmed his billionaire status during his vetting by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments on January 14. Kabogo, the former Kiambu Governor, revealed his net worth as KES 3.01 billion, detailing a diversified portfolio of assets.

His wealth includes residential properties valued at KES 700 million, movable assets worth KES 40 million, land and farms totaling KES 756 million, and cash and current assets amounting to KES 64 million. Kabogo also holds shares and interests worth KES 1.5 billion. “In total, I am worth KES 3.01 billion,” he stated during the session.

Kabogo also addressed his past ownership of a helicopter, which he sold after reduced usage. “I had one chopper at some point; when I couldn’t fly it as much, I decided to let it go,” he explained.

The nominee was questioned about past controversies, including allegations of involvement in the narcotics trade. Kabogo firmly denied these claims, stating, “I have never dealt with drugs of any kind all my life.” He added that a police investigation had cleared him of any wrongdoing, with the findings presented in Parliament.
