The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a five-day weather forecast, spanning from Tuesday, October 8, to Saturday, October 12, 2024. The report indicates that certain regions across the country are expected to experience rainfall, while the rest will remain sunny and dry.

Rainfall is forecasted for parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast. Afternoon showers are likely to occur in counties like Kisumu, Siaya, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, and Busia, among others. The Rift Valley counties, including Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, and Nandi, are also expected to receive rain during this period.

In contrast, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, and Kiambu, will experience rainfall alongside sunny intervals. Mornings will be cloudy, transitioning into brighter weather in the afternoons. However, temperatures in these regions are expected to remain low, with predictions of minimum temperatures as low as 7°C.

Meanwhile, coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and Tana River, will face high daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C. Similar weather is expected in the south-eastern lowlands and north-eastern regions, covering counties such as Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Marsabit, Mandera, and Wajir.

Residents in the north-western parts, particularly Turkana and Samburu, will continue to experience dry and sunny conditions with no significant rainfall expected.

The Kenya Meteorological Department’s forecast emphasizes caution as weather conditions may impact various activities, particularly in areas expecting rain. Residents of affected counties are advised to remain vigilant, particularly those in colder regions and areas prone to afternoon showers.
