The Director of Criminal Investigations, Geroge Kinoti has resigned from office.
Announcing his resignation, President William Ruto said that he accepted Kinoti resignation
“I have also received the resignation of the director general of CID Mr Kinoti and I have transmitted the same to the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position and meanwhile they should get somebody to act in the place of Mr Kinoti,” said the President.
Kinoti’s resignation may not have come as a shock to Kenyans, with President Ruto repeatedly accusing him of political witchhunt during campaigns.
Recently, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused Kinoti and the entire police department of harassing politicians in the guise of being corrupt.
Several politicians allied to President Ruto were arrested and arraigned for various charges, a thing that caused confrontations between Kinoti and the then DP.
