Authorities are searching for an unidentified male bus driver involved in a tragic accident at the Argwings Kodhek-Ole Dume junction in Kilimani, Nairobi County, that left two people dead and several others injured. The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, involved a Kenya Bus Service (KBS) bus and a motorcycle.

The fatal crash unfolded when a 51-seater bus, speeding down Valley Road toward Yaya Centre, lost control and collided with a motorcycle, instantly killing the rider and his passenger. Witnesses reported seeing the bus, which had just departed from Ole Dume, speeding down the steep section of Argwings Kodhek Road before the driver lost control and struck the motorcycle.

“The bus was speeding, and as soon as it hit the motorcycle, both the rider and the passenger were thrown off and died instantly,” a witness at the scene shared.

Initial police reports suggest that brake failure in the bus may have contributed to the driver’s inability to control the vehicle. “The bus lost control and crashed on the edge of the road, resulting in serious head injuries for both the rider and the pillion passenger, who died on the spot,” the police report read.

After the accident, the driver reportedly fled the scene, leaving the authorities to initiate a search. Crime scene investigators processed the accident site before towing the bus to Kilimani Police Station, where it will remain until the investigation is concluded.

Police spokesperson Resila Onyango confirmed that efforts to locate the driver are ongoing. “We are taking every possible measure to ensure his arrest. We have contacted KBS, and we believe it’s only a matter of time before we locate the suspect, who will assist us in our investigations,” Onyango stated.
