Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo has reported an attack on his rural home in Enooretet, Narok, in the early hours of Sunday morning, describing it as a grave threat to his family and an attempt on his life.
Letoo took to social media on Sunday to reveal that his home in Enooretet was attacked by unknown individuals at approximately 2 a.m. The attackers allegedly hurled stones into his compound, with some landing on the roof of his house. In a Facebook post, Letoo condemned the incident, describing it as not only a direct threat to his family’s safety but an attempted murder.
“They hurled stones at my compound and threw other stones on top of houses,” Letoo wrote. “This is NOT the first time it is happening despite my continued restraint.”
Letoo expressed frustration over the recurring nature of the attacks, noting that similar incidents have occurred in the past. He framed the latest assault as an intimidation tactic aimed at his work and life. The journalist, who covers high-profile political and national events, did not mince words about the potential motives behind the attack, suggesting that it was intended to silence or intimidate him.
“I take this as a serious threat to my family and an attempted MURDER on me and/or to some of my family members. This too is an INTIMIDATION of the highest order to me as a person, work, and life,” he stated.
Letoo’s post included a direct appeal to both the public and authorities, calling on the newly established General Service Unit (GSU) camp near his home to take immediate action. He urged security forces to provide protection for him, his family, and his neighbors, warning that any further attempts to breach his property would be met with strong resistance.
“To persons surrounding my home at night, please STOP for the very last time. Individuals sending people to attack my home, please STOP for the last time before I NAME and SHAME you,” he warned.
The journalist also copied his post to senior government officials, including Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), signaling his determination to escalate the matter if necessary.
“I am also calling on the newly established GSU camp not far from my home to WAKE UP and PROTECT my life, that of my family, and neighbors,” Letoo urged. He added that any future attempts to target his home or property would “be met by the full force of resistance and defense of life.”
