Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has revised the reporting date for first-year students joining the September 2024 intake. The new date is set for August 26, 2024, shifting from the original September 2, 2024. The university announced this change on Monday, August 12, 2024.
In the announcement, JKUAT also provided details about fee payments for new students. Government-sponsored students will not be required to pay the household fee upon reporting. Instead, they have a one-month window to make the payment after the Higher Education Financing (HEF) confirms their funding. Self-sponsored students, however, must pay their fees at the time of registration.
JKUAT has also outlined the process for hostel booking, which will begin on August 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM.
“University hostels will be booked online via https://hostel.jkuat.ac.ke/ starting August 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM,” the university stated. Successful applicants must pay the accommodation fee before they can move into their assigned rooms.
In addition to these updates, the university emphasized the importance of activating JKUAT email accounts for all new students.
This email account will be essential for accessing university resources, including the online library and Wi-Fi, and for receiving important communications. “Students must activate their JKUAT email accounts as soon as possible. It will be the primary mode of communication for the university,” JKUAT noted. Instructions for activating email accounts can be found at https://emailgen.jkuat.ac.ke/.
JKUAT also highlighted the need for students to have laptops or tablets to access online learning materials. The university is offering Taifa Laptops for purchase, with pricing details to be released soon. “After payment, students can collect the laptops at the JKUAT Main Campus, COHES Building, 4th Floor, by submitting the bank slip to the Students Finance Office,” the university added.
