Following their ambitious push back into the UEFA Champions League arena after Tottenham Hotspur lost to Manchester City on Tuesday, Aston Villa has secured the services of seasoned analyst Naythan Din-Kariuki as their First Team Recruitment Analyst. The appointment comes at a pivotal juncture for the club as they gear up for a return to top-flight European competition.

Bringing a wealth of experience from his tenure as Lead Recruitment Analyst at Oxford United Football Club and most recently as Senior Scout at AC Horsens, Kariuki steps into his new role with a mandate to revolutionize Villa’s approach to player recruitment.

Kariuki’s responsibilities encompass a comprehensive spectrum of analytical tasks aimed at enhancing the club’s ability to identify and secure top talent. Chief among these duties is the meticulous examination of prospective transfer targets’ career trajectories and biographical profiles. By conducting in-depth analyses, Kariuki aims to furnish Villa’s decision-makers with concrete evidence to challenge or corroborate subjective scouting assessments.

Moreover, Kariuki will spearhead the design and compilation of player summary pages, meticulously tailored for consumption by key stakeholders including the President of Football Operations, Head Coach, and the Board. Leveraging cutting-edge video telestration software, he will craft professional summary videos that offer incisive insights into the strengths and weaknesses of potential recruits.

A crucial aspect of Kariuki’s remit involves conducting comprehensive injury history audits, shedding light on the susceptibility of transfer targets to potential injuries and their overall robustness. Additionally, he will delve into the personal aspects of players’ lives, scouring social media platforms and news reports to glean insights into their character and lifestyle.

Collaboration lies at the heart of Kariuki’s approach, as he will work closely with the Head of Scouting Operations to strategically plan and execute live and video scouting schedules. Regular attendance at domestic and international fixtures will afford him the opportunity to provide firsthand reports on highlighted players.

Not content with merely assessing players in isolation, Kariuki will contextualize their potential suitability within Aston Villa’s playing style and squad model. Armed with a deep understanding of the broader marketplace, he will engage in evidence-based analysis to stay abreast of emerging talent and market trends.

Beyond his core responsibilities, Kariuki will undertake ad-hoc tasks such as compiling presentations on potential transfer targets and conducting squad audits of rival clubs. Moreover, he is committed to upholding Villa’s values, demonstrating unwavering support for safeguarding policies and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
