Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, who tragically passed away in a helicopter crash alongside nine other military personnel in Elgeyo Marakwet County, will be laid to rest at his family home in Alego Usonga, Siaya County on Sunday, April 19, 2024.

According to Ogolla’s father Joel Oketch, his son had expressed the wish to be buried within 72 hours in the event of his untimely demise. The late CDF’s family is collaborating with a committee from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to organize a fitting farewell for the esteemed General.

Before his death, General Ogolla had plans to visit Siaya County on Saturday, April 20, to join in celebrating his father Joel Okech’s upcoming 100th birthday festivities, which were scheduled to continue into Sunday and involve the local community.

President William Ruto has declared three days of mourning following the tragic loss of General Francis Ogolla.
