Jowie Irungu, also known as Jowie, has been condemned to death following his conviction for the 2018 homicide of entrepreneur Monica Kimani.

High Court judge Grace Nzioka, delivering the judgment on Wednesday, characterized the slaying of Monica Kimani as “deliberate.”

Justice Nzioka emphasized that the act was premeditated, not borne out of self-defense or provocation, but meticulously planned and executed. Jowie was found guilty last month of Monica Kimani’s murder, which occurred in her Lamuria Gardens residence in Nairobi on September 19, 2018.

Justice Nzioka affirmed that the prosecution presented ample evidence to establish Jowie’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

“In delivering the verdict, the judge emphasized the prosecution’s arguments regarding the ‘serious and grievous harm occasioned to the deceased’ with the use of a described ‘dangerous’ weapon.

She also remarked on the detailed planning of the offense, stating there was no provocation by the deceased towards the accused. Jowie, last month, was found guilty of the murder of Monica Kimani, who was brutally killed in her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi on the night of September 19, 2018.”
