The marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum, will be laid to rest next Saturday, February 24, at the family residence in Kaptagat.

The announcement came from the family, who revealed on Wednesday that burial preparations are underway. A funeral committee has been formed to oversee the arrangements and provide updates to the public.

Kiptum tragically lost his life in a fatal road accident on Sunday night in the Kaptagat area along the Elgeyo Marakwet-Ravine road. He was accompanied by his Rwandese coach, Garvais Hakizimana, who also perished in the accident.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on Hakizimana’s body at Eldoret hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Benson Macharia. Although the results were not disclosed, the procedure was witnessed by the coach’s family and Kiptum’s widow, Assenete Kiptum.
