Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has temporarily banned Chairman of Gaspo Women’s team,Edward Githua,  prohibiting him from engaging in any football-related activities due to grave allegations of sexual harassment.

Several underage players, a subset of whom served as ball girls for Gaspo Women FC between 2021 and 2023, have leveled accusations against Mr. Githua, citing inappropriate behavior that fostered a hostile and unsafe environment during their tenure with the club.

As indicated in a press release by the FKF, signed by Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno, the alleged incidents took place between 2021 and 2023. The FKF Safeguarding department has initiated contact with Mr. Githua concerning the allegations, aiming to have him appear before the FKF Disciplinary Committee to address the charges.

Mr. Githua is slated to present his responses before the FKF Disciplinary Committee. The federation underscores its commitment to ensuring justice for all parties involved but refrains from making additional comments until the committee reaches a decision.

Meanwhile, Gaspo Women’s team finds itself at the bottom of the 11-team league following the relegation of Trans Nzoia Falcons. The Gatundu-based squad has secured only one victory in nine matches, with two draws and six losses adversely impacting their chances of avoiding relegation. Accumulating a mere five points, the team, which has consistently finished in the top four over the past four seasons, faces an imminent relegation.
