Radio presenter Mike Mondo has been served with a cease and desist letter by the advocate of Ramadhani Oluoch, the father of the children he has been posting on social media.
The letter, dated January 2024, accuses Mondo of overstepping his boundaries as a boyfriend to the mother of Oluoch’s children and violating the privacy and anonymity of the minors.
Oluoch, who is also known as Ramzzy on social media, shared the letter on Twitter with a sarcastic message to Mondo: “Hello brother @MikeMondo1, we sent a rider to deliver this to you but you refused to receive it. Consider yourself served and have a lovely week. #HeshimaIdumu ama aje?”
The letter claims that Mondo has been posting photos of Oluoch’s children for clout and attention, while ignoring his own children. It also alleges that Mondo’s actions have exposed the children to possible ridicule and bullying at school, as well as the wrath of Kenyans on the X mobile application, where the photos were widely shared and criticized.
The letter demands that Mondo pull down all the photos of the minors from all his social media platforms, cease and desist from posting such photos ever again and issue an unconditional apology to Oluoch within 72 hours, or face legal action.
The letter quotes Oluoch as saying: “You took the bold step of picking up from where I left and I commend you for that. However, you developed an aura of pettiness and overstepped your boundaries as a boyfriend to the mother of my children and even had the audacity to start posting photos of my children online.”
It also quotes the advocate, Katee David, as saying: “As radio presenter you are expected to at the very least be well acquainted with media laws to understand why mass media outlets typically blur and or pixelate the faces of children in photos and videos to protect their privacy and anonymity.”
The letter further states: “Your actions not only embarrassed our client and made him trend at number 1 on the X mobile application but this exposed the children to breach of their privacy and possibly setting them up for future ridicule and bullying at school since the adults around them have failed in being objective with their actions.”
It concludes: “We hereby are instructed to demand that you pull down all the photos of the minors from all your social media platforms, cease and desist from posting such photos ever again and issue an unconditional apology to our client within 72 hours failure to which we have mandatory and unequivocal instructions to institute legal proceedings against you in a court of law.”
