Tech operators, founders, enthusiasts, professionals, and investors from across the Kenyan tech ecosystem converged at Ikigai Westlands for an evening of networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration during the Tech Operators Mixr event.
Organized by Black Ops, curated by X Connect, and sponsored by Founders Factory Africa, the event drew over 80 attendees representing diverse startup verticals, including logistics, hardware, content production, transport, and financial services.
Gerald Black, Community Manager at Black Ops and the event’s organizer, credited its success to insightful conversations and networking opportunities, noting that it surpassed envisioned goals by onboarding new members and fostering a sense of community.
The evening commenced with attendees networking, followed by a keynote address from Black Ops founder and Talstack CEO Seni Sulyman, emphasizing the significance of community and networking for tech operators.
Thea Sokolowski, co-founder of Women Who Build Africa (WWBA), shared her organization’s mission to connect women in Africa’s tech ecosystem globally. Attendees appreciated the informal setting, expressing interest in learning about various communities and networks they could join.
Presentations by Winnie Chira, Kenya Managing Director at Periculum, and Ronald Mahondo, CEO of Maramoja Transport, showcased their experiences in the tech industry and future plans.
Nathalie Kaligirwa, a senior software engineer from Seattle attending the event while on holiday in Nairobi, expressed interest in gaining insights into the Kenyan tech ecosystem from behind the scenes.
