After 52 days on the road spanning more than 13,000 kilometers, Kenyan blogger Victor Matara has completed his epic journey from Nairobi to Cape Town and back in a trusty Subaru XV station wagon.
Matara, an avid wanderlust, departed the Kenyan capital on October 16 for the grand African adventure. His route took him south through Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi and into South Africa before looping back up via Tanzania and finally home to Kenya on Tuesday December 5.
“Safely back to the motherland!” an exuberant Matara tweeted upon his arrival in Nairobi. “Nine countries, unforgettable memories!”
Over the course of 52 days, Matara traversed rough dirt tracks, crater-filled highways, congested city centres and everything in between.
And along every kilometre of the epic 13,398-kilometre journey, Matara documented his African escapade through photos and social media dispatches for his online fans.
Matara reported no major issues with his trusty Subaru XV, a Japanese crossover SUV with a 2-liter engine. He consumed fuel at a cost of KES 263,555.
