Gachagua hosts partnership forum with diplomats

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua,hosted a Development Partnerships Forum with diplomats in Nairobi on Wednesday, highlighting the East African country’s “robust, warm and fraternal relationship with development partners since independence.”

Speaking at his official residence in Karen, a neighborhood of the capital city, Gachagua said development partners have played a “critical role” in helping Kenya overcome developmental challenges.

The forum, co-chaired by the Netherlands’ ambassador and the U.N. resident coordinator, aims to foster cooperation toward improving life in Kenya, Gachagua said.

“We thank our development partners for working with us to build a better Kenya,” he said.

Earlier Wednesday, Gachagua held bilateral talks with India’s minister of state for parliamentary affairs, V. Muraleedharan, who is visiting Kenya and Tanzania. Gachagua said their two countries have enjoyed cordial ties since establishing diplomatic contacts before Kenya gained independence in 1963.

“Our mutual trade and exchange relations continues to grow in a number of areas, including education, health, science and technology, research, tourism and agro-based industries, real estate and construction, banking among others,” Gachagua said.
