Eight people have been left injured in a road accident near Lari in Nyambari area along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Those affected include students who were enroute to their schools.

According to St. Johns Ambulance Kenya the incident occurred on Tuesday, involving a collision between a lorry and a 14-seater matatu.

“The injured have been rushed to hospital,” St John Ambulance said.

This follows a tragic road accident claimed the lives of 15 individuals today morning. The incident occurred around 2:45 am at the Twin Bridge area along Nakuru-Eldoret, involving a collision between a bus affiliated with Classic Kings of Congo and a North Ways Shuttle Toyota Matatu.

The victims, comprising eight adults and seven children (including five girls), met their untimely demise, while 38 others managed to escape the scene unharmed.

Law enforcement, as detailed in a statement on X, reported that Mau Summit police promptly responded to the Twin Bridge area, aiding in the transfer of the injured parties to Molo Hospital. Rift Valley police chief Tom Odero confirmed that an investigation into the tragic incident is currently underway. Odero also urged all motorists to exercise utmost caution on the roads to prevent further road accidents.

This unfortunate event follows closely after another incident claimed two lives in Kisaju, Isinya, Kajiado County, involving a 14-seater matatu and a truck carrying sand. On the same day, a separate accident was reported in the Tegero area along Narok-Bomet, involving a Toyota Hiace Matatu from Transcar Galaxy Sacco and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck.

Disturbingly, police statistics reveal that more than 40 individuals have lost their lives in various accidents across the country in the current year alone.
