Fly Skyward Express has today commenced its flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Moi International Airport, Mombasa. The launch ceremony, held at JKIA’s Terminal 2, saw the attendance of esteemed dignitaries and marked a momentous occasion for both the aviation sector and travelers alike.
Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen, lauded the initiative, stating, “We are celebrating Skyward today for opening new and affordable routes that allow Kenyans to fly to different destinations in Kenya.” He emphasized the positive impact on the economy, particularly in boosting businesses and tourism, and assured Skyward of the Ministry’s support in their growth endeavors.
The airline will operate two daily flights from JKIA Terminal 2 to Moi International Airport, recently recognized as the 2023 Best Airport by Size and Region in the Under 2 million Passenger Per Year category for Africa by ACI World.
This new offering aims to provide passengers with increased convenience and accessibility to one of Kenya’s prime coastal destinations, enhancing connectivity between Nairobi and Mombasa while offering travelers more options for seamless travel experiences.
Caleb Kositany, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairman, commented on the significance of the event, stating, “Today’s inauguration of new flights by Skyward Express marks a significant stride in Kenya’s aviation sector.” He commended Skyward for their dedication to opening up new and affordable routes, recognizing their contribution to the growth of the economy and domestic market.
The launch signifies not only an expansion of travel options for passengers but also the continued growth and development of the aviation industry in Kenya.
