The National Job Recruitment Program commenced today, Monday, November 25, in Nakuru City, with hundreds of job seekers flocking to the venue in search of opportunities. The program, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, aims to address the growing unemployment rates in the country by connecting skilled and semi-skilled workers with potential employers.

Speaking during the event’s opening, Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling unemployment. “This program is part of our larger strategy to create meaningful employment opportunities for Kenyans, especially the youth. We are partnering with both public and private sectors to ensure the success of this initiative,” she said.

The program targets job seekers across various sectors, including agriculture, construction, hospitality, and technology. Participants are also being offered career guidance and training to enhance their employability.

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, who attended the event, lauded the initiative, highlighting its potential to uplift the local economy. “Nakuru County is proud to host this event. It not only provides jobs but also boosts local industries that rely on skilled labor. We encourage our residents to make the most of this opportunity,” she stated.

Several private sector employers present at the event expressed their optimism about the program. John Mwangi, a representative from a leading construction firm, said, “This is an excellent platform for us to identify and recruit talent. The turnout is impressive, and we hope to find skilled individuals to join our team.”

Job seekers at the event voiced their appreciation for the initiative. Mary Wanjiru, a recent graduate, said, “It’s encouraging to see such efforts being made to help us find work. I’m hopeful I’ll get a job today.”
