Moi University bus involved in accident on Naivasha-Nairobi highway

A bus carrying students from Moi University crashed off the road on Wednesday morning along the Naivasha-Nairobi highway, according to an incident report from the institution.

The bus, ferrying 65 Kiswahili students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences to Nairobi for an academic trip, swerved off the road and landed on its side near Kimende around 9:50am.

“The Driver swerved off-road to avoid a possible head on collision with a trailer,” the report stated. “It landed on the side of the road safely with no casualties.”

While no fatalities were reported, the incident sparked chaos and concerns over the students’ safety. However, the university quickly accounted for all passengers.

“The students were rescued immediately and all are accounted for. They are With Dr. Mumbo Kenga, Lecturer,” the incident report reassured.

The bus involved was a 67-seater Isuzu vehicle with the registration KCK 583U. Police responded to the scene, and another bus was dispatched to transport the uninjured students back to Moi University’s main campus.
