Moi International Airport has been named the 2023 Best Airport in Africa for airports with under 2 million passengers annually by Airports Council International, a global trade representative.

The Mombasa airport received the honor based on results of the Airport Service Quality survey, which evaluates passenger satisfaction at airports worldwide through departure and arrival surveys.

It’s the third straight year Moi has topped the category for Africa’s small airports. The awards, presented with travel technology firm Amadeus, recognize airports keeping high service standards despite industry challenges.

“Congratulations to the entire team at Moi International Airport on their success in the Airport Service Quality Awards,” said Luis Felipe de Oliveira, director general of ACI World. “Your commitment to excellence in customer experience sets a benchmark for airports worldwide!”

The Kenya Airports Authority, which operates Moi, said the recognition affirms its focus on exceptional service. Arrivals through Moi jumped 95.6% in the third quarter of 2023, to 40,515 passengers.

“Winning the award … is a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence in customer service,” said KAA’s acting managing director, Henry Ogoye. “This accolade reaffirms our commitment to providing exceptional experiences.”

The ASQ Awards highlight airports’ crucial role in the overall travel experience through direct passenger feedback.
