All preparations are in place for the 15th edition of Mashujaa Day, set to be held for the first time in Kwale County on October 20. The celebrations will take place at the newly renovated Kwale Stadium, which has been upgraded to accommodate 12,000 guests, marking a significant milestone in the county’s development.
This year’s theme, “Affordable Housing,” reflects the ongoing infrastructure growth in the region. President William Ruto will preside over the event, highlighting both national and local progress. In addition to the Mashujaa Day celebrations, Kwale is set to benefit from various economic development initiatives, including road improvements overseen by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
Heightened security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all attendees. Dr. Raymond Omollo, Principal Secretary for Internal Security, confirmed that security efforts were well-coordinated and would extend beyond the event itself.
“Security in Kwale has been reinforced well ahead of the celebrations and will continue to be a priority even after Mashujaa Day,” he stated. The security efforts involve collaboration between the county government, local police, and regional security teams.
President Ruto is expected to address the nation from Kwale Stadium and later host a luncheon at the County Commissioner’s residence, which has been temporarily converted into a state lodge for the occasion. The event is expected to attract national dignitaries, local residents, and tourists, highlighting the importance of Kwale County on the national stage.
