The Kenyan Revenue Authority, KRA, has announced that it will launch a new TV station on October 3, 2022.

According to a statement from KRA, the station aims to enhance tax literacy among Kenyans through programs on tax awareness.

“Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will, on Monday, 3rd October 2022, unveil a web-based television (TV) station dubbed “KRA TV”. The station is envisioned to enhance tax literacy in the country through the dissemination of simplified tax and customs content,” said KRA in a statement.

The move is one of the measures the tax man is taking to widen the tax base and collections in line with President Willaim Ruto’s mission to revitalize KRA.

KRA says the station will be hosted on its website, airing programs such as Tax Talks, Tax Thursdays, and Stori Za Ushuru, among others.

“The “KRA TV” platform will be hosted on the KRA website and drive a demand-based viewership. The station will host customized tax content that the public may consume at their convenience,”  KRA said.

The TV launch will coincide with KRA’s Taxpayer’s Month commencing.

Through the same statement, KRA says the theme of this year’s Taxpayer’s Month is ‘Leaving no one behind’, a call to mobilize every Kenyan to participate in paying taxes to build the country.

“This year’s Taxpayers Month is themed “Leaving no one behind’. The theme highlights the collective role and contribution of all Kenyans towards our economic progress as a nation,” KRA said.

The tax man is moving to unveil the TV station with the current initials, despite President Ruto’s statement that he was in the process of naming the authority to Kenya Revenue Service.
