The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) of Kenya has announced the immediate recall of Sure Lubricated Condoms (Dotted) manufactured by Indus Medicare Private Limited, specifically Batch No. 2405055. The batch failed to meet critical safety standards during testing, raising concerns about its efficacy.

In a statement issued on December 11, 2024, the PPB revealed that the affected product did not comply with the required specifications for “freedom from holes (conductivity)” tests. The Chief Executive Officer of the PPB, Dr. F.M. Siyoi, stated, “The Board advises all pharmaceutical outlets, healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, and members of the public to immediately quarantine the product and stop its further distribution, sale, or use.”

The recall highlights Kenya’s ongoing commitment to ensuring public health and safety. The PPB urged citizens to return any products from the affected batch to their nearest healthcare facility or supplier. The public was further encouraged to report cases of substandard medicines or adverse reactions through the Board’s official reporting channels, including online platforms, mobile applications, and a dedicated hotline.

Dr. Siyoi emphasized, “The Board is committed to ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines in the market to protect public health.”
