Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has expressed his backing for former TV journalist Jacque Maribe amidst uncertainty surrounding her rumored high-level position within his ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management.

Kuria, in an official statement posted on his X account, affirmed his solidarity with Maribe, highlighting their enduring 16-year friendship. “Meanwhile, I stand with Jacque Maribe, my friend for the last 16 years, and I will stand with her just like I stood with Gov Kawira Mwangaza in the wake of unjustified bullying,” Moses Kuria wrote.

His remarks come a day after Anthony Muchiri, the Public Service Commission’s chairperson, clarified that contrary to Kuria’s earlier statements, there had been no appointment of Jacque Maribe to any position, nor had the board received any request for her employment.

Maribe is currently working as the head of communication in the Ministry of Public Service headed by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria. In a press release issued Thursday, the Commission disowned the appointment clarifying it had no involvement in the recruitment to the position.

“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” the statement attributed to Commission chair Anthony Muchiri read.

Her appointment to the role came in the wake of her acquittal in Monica Kimani’s murder case which had been going on for almost six years. On February 9, 2024, she acquitted in the case of the murder with the primary suspect in the case, Joseph Irungu, convicted of the murder.
