Traffic disruption at Gitaru interchange announced by KeNHA

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption at the Gitaru interchange on Waiyaki Way and the intersection of the Southern and Western Bypasses. The disruption, scheduled to run from November 19 to December 19, 2024, will facilitate the construction of the Right-Hand Side (RHS) carriageway between the Southern and Western Bypasses, marking a significant milestone in the Gitaru Interchange project.

KeNHA emphasized the importance of the interchange as a key link connecting Waiyaki Way with the Southern and Western Bypasses. Once completed, the project is expected to improve connectivity, enhance road safety, and contribute to the economic growth of Nairobi and its surrounding regions.

“This project is critical to improving mobility and easing congestion in one of Nairobi’s busiest road networks. Motorists will benefit from faster commutes and smoother navigation at intersections,” KeNHA stated.

During the construction period, motorists are advised to anticipate potential delays and to follow the temporary traffic operation plan to ensure safety and minimize inconvenience. KeNHA has urged drivers to cooperate with traffic marshals and police officers managing the affected areas.

“We ask all road users to adhere to road signs and instructions from on-site personnel to ensure the safety and efficiency of traffic flow,” the authority advised.

KeNHA also encouraged motorists to consider alternative routes where possible to ease traffic congestion in the area. Regular updates on the project’s progress will be shared through official KeNHA communication channels to keep the public informed.

KeNHA reaffirmed its commitment to completing the project within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring minimal disruption to road users. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated on the latest developments through KeNHA’s official platforms.
