DCI probe suspected murder of 13-year-old pupil in Nairobi

Detectives are currently probing the suspected murder of a 13-year-old pupil at Joy Garden Primary School, whose lifeless body was discovered on a balcony within the school premises last evening.

According to the DCI, the school’s director Jane Kimani, reported the incident, stating that the class eight pupil, a boarder at the institution, was noted missing around 6:30 PM when she failed to appear for supper.

Following the report, a thorough search was conducted throughout the school’s eight-story building, leading to the discovery of the deceased pupil’s body on a first-floor balcony adjacent to the Director’s office.

“Upon examination of the body by Buruburu police, it was determined that the injuries sustained were inconsistent with those expected from a fall from a higher floor, as initially suggested by the school’s management,” DCI stated.

The DCI further stated that four staff members namely, the school director Jane Kimani, the head Teacher James Mungai, the accountant Caroline Matheka and one Anthony Kimani have been apprehended to assist in the ongoing investigations:

“The crime scene has been processed, and the deceased’s body has been transferred to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary, pending autopsy.”
