Two suspected members of an armed criminal gang have been arrested during an ongoing police operation in Bomet County, Kenya.

31-year-old Kevin Kiplangat, known as Elvis, and 22-year-old Evan Kiprotich Chirchir, known as Protio, were apprehended in the Mulot and Chepalungu areas of Bomet respectively.

The arrests come amidst an operation led by detectives from Kenyan Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Nairobi, following numerous complaints of SIM card and electronic fraud across Bomet, Kericho and Nakuru counties.

According to a statement by Litein Police Station, the two suspects have been linked to a violent robbery reported at the station on 29 December 2023. They have been detained at Litein pending an identification parade and expected arraignment at Kericho Law Courts.
