President William Ruto made fresh appointments to key positions in several state organizations and agencies on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Among the key appointments was Abdi Bare Duale who was appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
Charles Githinji was named the Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board in a gazette notice dated 20, January 2023.

Susan Wafula, Cabinet Secretary for Health, however, revoked the nominations of Paul Magutu Njaria, Dorcas Wanjiru Ngechu, John Munguti Kisengi, Miriam Wairimu Ndirangu, Stephens Ogutu Oyaya, and Diana Marion to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board in the same Gazette Notice.
In addition, Sophy Nekoye Waliaula was chosen to serve as the non-executive chair of the youth advisory board.
At the same time, Phillip Mong’ony was appointed Chair of the State Corporations Advisory Committee, and Fatma Bakari Barayan was given the responsibility of serving as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund Board.
Individuals selected by the President will hold office for a duration of three years, according to the Gazette Notice effective Friday, January 20, 2023, pending further communication from the relevant Ministries.

In addition, President Ruto named Surum Ipato Korema chair of the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board. Ruto also revoked the appointment of Agnes Mantaine Pareiyo, who had previously held a similar position at the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board.
Other New Appointments
This also comes at the backdrop of other new appointments made by CS Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen following the appointment of five new board members to the Kenya Ports Authority(KPA)
Murkomen appointed Musa Osman, Emmanuel Kibet, Caroline Njoki Maina, Consolata Lusweti, and Lucas Maitha to serve for three years effective January 23, 2023.
CS Murkomen also removed Lydia Yator, Stephen Gichuhi Gichohi, Conrad Thorpe, Farida Abdalla Sud, and Nilfat Kassim Ali from their positions.
