The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has commenced disciplinary action against nominated Senator Karen Nyamu over an altercation she was involved in Dubai.

In a letter to the legislator, the UDA party said the actions by Nyamu amounted to a violation of the code of conduct for holders of public offices and also painted the party she represents in a bad light.

“In the said incident, which is well captured on video that has been widely circulated in both mainstream and social media, your conduct and mannerism as exhibited in that incident has brought shame, disrepute and lowered the dignity of the party which nominated you to the office of Senator,” read part of the letter.

“Article 73 of the Constitution of Kenya as read together with the code of conduct of the party and your oath of office, delineate with clarity the expected conduct of a member of the party who has been afforded the opportunity to serve in public office, to represent the party at the Senate and the general public.”

Nyamu is expected to appear before the disciplinary committee on the morning of Friday, December 23, to defend her conduct, either in person or in the company of an advocate.

Nyamu was captured in a viral video showing her engaged in an altercation with the wife of popular Kikuyu musician Samidoh.

Samidoh, with who Nyamu has 2 kids, was seated close to the dancing stage, having drinks with his wife before Nyamu confronted the duo, compelling security guards to escort her out.

The incident attracted public condemnation from Kenyans, who accused Nyamu of exhibiting behaviours contrary to her stature as a senator.
