Ibrahim Amin To Be Sworn In As New DCI Boss

Amin Mohamed Ibrahim, the newly appointed Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), will take his oath of office on Wednesday, October 19, at the Supreme Court buildings.

The event will be overseen by Chief Justice Martha Koome, as announced by the judiciary on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Amin was vetted by the National Police Service Commission(NPSC) before being appointed by President William Ruto to lead the DCI on Saturday, October 15.

Prior to his appointment, Ibrahim oversaw the Internal Affairs Unit of the DCI and held a number of prominent roles, including that of the head of the CID Investigations Bureau and the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit.

The position of DCI Director was proclaimed vacant Immediately after Kinoti’s resignation on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. The announcement was made a few hours after NPSC posted the job opening for the Office of the DCI.

After George Kinoti’s resignation, the NPSC had ten applicants on its shortlist to replace the job of Director of Criminal Investigations, including Bernard Barasa Walumoli, Eliud Kipkoech Lagat, Gideon Nyale Munga, Esther Chepkosgei Seroney and David Kipkosgey Birech.

This comes after the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, also exited office on medical grounds.
