Masaa Salim Takes Over As DCI Boss

Massa Salim will serve as acting Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for the next two weeks, taking over from immediate former boss George Kinoti.

This comes after President William Ruto announced Kinoti’s resignation on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

The position of DCI Director was proclaimed vacant Immediately after Kinoti’s resignation. The announcement was made a few hours after NPSC posted the job opening for the Office of the DCI.

“NPSC appoints Mr Massa Hamisi Salim, MBS, NDC (K), SAIG as the Director Criminal Investigation in an acting capacity until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days,” NPSC said in a statement.

Eliud Kinuthia, the chairman of the commission, announced that all interested parties have seven days to submit applications for the position, with the deadline set for October 6, 2022.

“Pursuant to section 30 as read together with sections 29 and 30 of the NPS Act No.11A of 2011 Revised (2017), the Commission is mandated to recommend to the President persons for appointment as Director of Criminal Investigations.

“The Director of Criminal Investigations must have knowledge and experience in the criminal investigation or policing, as well as a notable career in their profession, according to the NPSC’s job advertisement.

This comes after the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai also exited office on medical grounds, according to President William Ruto.

Speaking to the media at the statehouse on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, President Ruto mentioned that he had accepted the request of Mutyambai to proceed on an early 6-month terminal leave following health complications.
