Online supermarket Greenspoon has joined forces with electric mobility company Roam to launch a fully sustainable, ultra-fast delivery service. The partnership, announced on August 19, 2024, promises to slash delivery times from three hours to under 99 minutes, utilizing Roam’s electric motorcycles.

The collaboration is part of GreenspoonGo, the company’s speedy delivery service launched in February 2023. By integrating Roam Air electric motorcycles into its fleet, Greenspoon aims to enhance efficiency while adhering to its commitment to sustainability and supporting local producers.

Elijah Karanja, Greenspoon’s Operations Manager, said: “Roam and Greenspoon is a match made in heaven for going green for the world. Here’s to a net zero future.”

The Roam Air motorcycles, designed for high efficiency and durability, feature a waterproof storage tank and a strong frame capable of handling up to 15 customer orders daily per vehicle. The bikes’ removable dual battery system and portable charger allow riders to recharge at any power outlet, minimizing downtime.

Greenspoon plans to equip each Roam Air with three batteries, providing a range of over 225 kilometers when fully charged. This enhancement is expected to enable riders to complete up to 195 orders daily, a significant increase from current capacity.

Dionne Getata, Roam’s Sales Operations Manager, highlighted the environmental benefits of the partnership: “By leveraging the latest in electric motorcycle technology, our partnership is helping to reduce carbon emissions and provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional delivery services.”

The zero-emission Roam Air, with a carrying capacity of up to 220 kg, aligns with Greenspoon’s mission to reduce carbon footprints and support local farmers and artisans. GreenspoonGo further enhances sustainability by consolidating orders going to the same route whenever possible.

Greenspoon currently serves over 3,500 customers who order through its mobile app and website. With the improved delivery times, the company aims to expand its customer base and service area.
