Police officers have disclosed in a statement on Monday, March 25, the identity of an additional suspect implicated in the homicide of Dagoretti Deputy Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer, Felix Kelian Kintosi.
During a hearing application before Kibera Magistrate Margaret Murage, lead prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Fredrick Kosen, affirmed that one of the individuals associated with DJ Joe Mfalme’s crew had evaded arrest and remains at large.
Kosen emphasized the necessity for the police to obtain CCTV footage from the crime scene to ascertain the sequence of events. Furthermore, he indicated that the prosecution required additional time to gather statements from key witnesses to formulate a comprehensive case.
He pointed out the need for a mental evaluation before proceeding with the investigations.
“I also intend to take the accused to Mama Lucy Hospital for mental assessment and forward the investigation file to the DPP for determination of appropriate charge to be preferred against them.”
DJ Mfalme, accompanied by three other employees allegedly involved in the altercation, appeared in court. Additionally, three police officers from Kikuyu Police Station were also brought before the court.
During the proceedings, DJ Mfalme asserted that he posed no flight risk, citing prior contractual commitments to perform during the Easter weekend. He expressed readiness to cooperate with investigators and petitioned the court for bail.
Following a review of the evidence, Magistrate Murage ordered the suspects to be remanded in custody for 14 days to allow the police to conclude their investigations.
Reports indicate that the deceased was engaged in a confrontation with DJ Mfalme and his crew after colliding with their vehicle. Allegedly, the officer was assaulted by the suspects and transported to Kikuyu Police Station.
Subsequently, he complained of abdominal pains and hematuria (blood in urine). He was admitted to a local Nairobi Hospital and succumbed to his injuries five days later.
