Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced the immediate suspension of all licenses and certification permits for second-generation alcohol and alcoholic beverage distillers and manufacturers in accordance with the provisions outlined in section 4(2)k of the Preservation of Public Security Act.

This directive, issued on Wednesday, mandates that all affected entities must reapply for licenses. Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, under the leadership of CS Kindiki, will conduct a thorough vetting process for all existing valid licenses within twenty-one days from the issuance of this directive.

CS Kindiki emphasized that only establishments with approved licenses will be permitted to resume operations upon obtaining fresh approval. Additionally, the Ministry will convene a meeting with licensed manufacturers and distillers on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 10 am, as part of the regulatory process.
