Content creator Eve Mungai has been ousted from her own YouTube channels and Facebook account by her former partner, known as ‘Director Trevor’, in what appears to be a hostile takeover.

The couple, previously romantically involved for nearly five years, have apparently ended both their personal and professional relationships.

Under Trevor’s direction, Mungai’s YouTube channels have been rebranded as ‘Kenya Online Media’, effectively removing her from her role in platform management. Among the affected channels is the Mungai Eve Insta Fame YouTube channel, boasting over 100,000 subscribers, as well as a jointly-owned Facebook page with 847,000 followers.

Mungai, who had been the prominent face of their YouTube channels, garnered widespread attention for her coverage of various topics, particularly within the entertainment sphere, amassing a dedicated following.

Her rise to prominence during the 2020 lockdown was marked by viral content featuring lesser-known voices, notably contributing to the visibility of emerging artists such as ‘Madocho’, ‘Liyetin’, and ‘Stupid Boy’ in the ‘shembeteng’ lingua community.

Director Trevor has been acknowledged as the driving force behind the brand’s success, serving multifaceted roles including director, producer, editor, and photographer.

Prior to their separation, Mungai’s YouTube channel reportedly yielded substantial earnings, boasting a monthly income surpassing KES1.5 million, elevating her to millionaire status at the age of 21.

Currently, Mungai is enjoying a solo holiday in Dubai.
