The law enforcement authorities have disclosed the formation of a specialized multi-agency task force tasked with apprehending Kelvin Kang’ethe, the primary suspect in the homicide case involving Kenyan nurse Margaret Mbitu at a United States airport last November.

Kang’ethe’s audacious escape from Muthaiga Police station had confounded investigators. Sources within the police department revealed they had tracked Kang’ethe’s cell phone signals to Machakos County and subsequently focused their search efforts within the Nairobi Metropolis area.

The dedicated task force aims to trace Kang’ethe’s recent movements, including any individuals he may have been in contact with within the past 48 hours, and will actively engage with local communities to gather pertinent information regarding his current whereabouts.

Additionally, authorities will conduct inquiries to ascertain any potential accomplices involved in Kang’ethe’s escape from the police station to Machakos County.

The 40-year-old suspect vanished from Muthaiga Police Station following his court appearance on January 31. Reports indicate that a person purporting to be Kang’ethe’s attorney visited him at the station, and authorities permitted him to exit his cell to meet the supposed lawyer.

According to Nairobi Police Boss Adason Bungei Kang’ethe mysteriously vanished from a police station, prompting a manhunt. He further stated that four officers and a lawyer present at the station at the time of his disappearance have been detained in connection with the incident.
