Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) led by Director Martin Nyabuto have successfully located the vehicle allegedly involved in the abduction of the late blogger Daniel Muthiani Benard, widely recognized as Sniper.

The investigative team spent the entirety of Friday at Meru Central Police Station meticulously examining the Toyota Premio model, focusing on fingerprint analysis to ascertain individuals who had interacted with the vehicle.

Detectives assert that the vehicle was involved in the abduction of the deceased blogger and subsequently utilized to dispose of his body at Mutonga River in Chiakariga, Tharaka Nithi County, on December 2, 2023.

Sources within the investigation suggest that Vincent Mureithi Kirimi, also known as Supuu, may have operated the vehicle.

The other three occupants, namely Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi, and Boniface Kithinji Njihia, alias DJ Kaboom, may also have been transported in the same car.

“The Homicide team is actively conducting further investigations on the case,” stated the DCI.

Muthiani was reported missing on December 2, 2023, and his body was discovered on December 16.

A post-mortem examination conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that Muthiani had endured torture before being strangled to death.

The heinous murder prompted widespread condemnation, with human rights activists and bloggers urging the DCI to expedite the investigation and bring Muthiani’s killers to justice.

To date, 10 suspects have been apprehended, including Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, the brother of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

According to investigators, the five suspects enticed the deceased through a phone call, alleging that a senior leader wished to meet him.

President William Ruto has led the country in denouncing the killing and has called upon investigating authorities to accelerate the trial.
