The founder of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), Lizzie Wanyoike, is scheduled to be laid to rest at her Gatanga residence on Tuesday of next week. The 72-year-old entrepreneur, who was also the founder of Lizzie Preparatory Schools and the Hotel Emory, succumbed to an unknown illness on January 14.

A memorial service in honor of Madam Wanyoike will take place tomorrow at ACK St. Joseph of Arimathea, Thome, starting at 3:00 pm. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to bid their final farewells.

According to records, Lizzie studied at Kenyatta University (KU), formerly known as Kenyatta University College, and graduated with a diploma in education. Following her graduation, she established a secretarial training college in Nairobi through a partnership, from which she eventually withdrew.

Wanyoike, a former secondary school teacher, initiated the business school project in the year 2000. The venture commenced with a capital investment of KES 6 million, half of which was secured as credit from Equity Bank. At its inception, the school enrolled 25 students.
